Hardwood Floors Sell Homes in North Houston

Well-maintained hardwood can add $5,000 to $15,000 to a home's perceived value. Dull, scratched, or dirty hardwood does the opposite — it signals neglect and gives buyers leverage to negotiate your price down.

Step 1: Identify Your Floor Type

Deeper Scratches
- Clean the scratch thoroughly and let it dry
- Apply a matching wood filler with a putty knife
- Sand lightly when dry and apply a thin coat of polyurethane
- For large areas, consider a screen-and-recoat rather than full refinishing
Step 4: Polish for Showings

Apply a hardwood floor polish (not wax) in thin, even coats. Work in one direction with the grain. Allow 30 minutes to dry before applying a second coat.
